This medication can decrease your body's ability to fight an infection. This effect can lead to very serious (possibly fatal) infections (such as fungal infections, bacterial infections including tuberculosis). You should have a tuberculosis (TB) skin test before and during treatment with this medication. Also tell your doctor your medical history, especially of past/recent/current infections. You should also tell your doctor if you have lived or traveled in areas where certain fungal infections (such as coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis) are common or if you have been near someone with tuberculosis. Tell your doctor right away if you develop signs of an infection while using this drug, such as sore throat or cough that doesn't go away, fever, chills, night sweats, painful/frequent urination, unusual vaginal discharge, white patches in the mouth (oral thrush). If you are diagnosed with TB, you must first be treated for it before you start certolizumab to prevent a serious TB infection. Though it is very unlikely to happen, there is a risk (especially in children/teens/young adults) of developing cancer (such as lymphoma, skin) due to this medication or due to your medical condition. Discuss the risks and benefits of treatment with your doctor. Tell your doctor right away if you develop symptoms such as fever that doesn't go away, unusual lumps/growths, skin changes, swollen lymph nodes, swollen or painful abdomen, unexplained weight loss, or night sweats.

Cimzia (2 Syringe) FAQs
How to make CIMZIA injections less painful?

To make CIMZIA injections less painful, one can try the following strategies:1. Room Temperature: Allow the medication to reach room temperature before injecting, as cold injections can be more painful.2. Numbing: Use an ice pack or a numbing cream on the injection site for a few minutes before administering the injection to reduce discomfort.3. Relaxation: Ensure the muscles are relaxed during the injection to minimize pain.4. Rotation: Rotate injection sites to avoid irritation and allow previous sites to heal.5. Technique: Use a quick, smooth motion to insert the needle and inject the medication slowly and steadily.6. Distraction: Engage in a distracting activity, such as listening to music or watching TV, during the injection.7. Consultation: Discuss with a healthcare provider for additional tips or techniques specific to individual needs.

CIMZIA injections can cause some discomfort or pain at the injection site, which is common with subcutaneous injections. The level of pain can vary from person to person. Some individuals may experience mild pain, redness, or swelling, while others may find it more uncomfortable. Using proper injection techniques and rotating injection sites can help minimize discomfort. If pain is a concern, discussing it with a healthcare provider for additional strategies to manage it may be beneficial.
